Meeting was a great opportunity to discuss prospects of independent cultural centers in the Balkans and to get an insight into variety of different models of organisation and governance of cultural centers in the region.

Within the panel Inspiration from other networks in the region: “Why and what can bring us together?” Milica Pekić, Kooperativa managing board member, talked about Kooperativa platform, its goals and structure while Ioana Crugel from European network of cultural centers and Raluca Iakob from Culture and education program in Romania shared their experiences of creating and developing networks. The panel was moderated by Irena Boljuncic Gracin from Rojc center from Pula. Representatives of cultural centers Magacin and Rex from Belgrade, Lab and CK13 from Novi Sad, as well as Jadro from Skopje were also present, among others.

Trans Europe Halles members in the Balkan region, got together in Belgrade last year to form a working group and called it TEH Balkan Hub. With Timisoara meeting they are continuing their aim of exploring new ways of increasing regional cooperation among independent cultural actors in the Balkan region, beyond Trans Europe Halles. TEH Balkan Hub is one of the components of Trans Europe Halles’ project Factories of Imagination (2017-2021), co-funded by the Creative Europe of the European Union.
